Conform Between Surfaces

Nickname ConformBetweenSrfMorphe › 2. Implicit › LatticeOutputs Implicit

Fill a continuous field (e.g. a TPMS expression) into the gap between two surfaces that share a UV domain. The warp is baked in real arc-length model units, so author the lattice frequency in the content expression (model units). Output is one bounded implicit.

Inputs

NameNickTypeDefaultDescription
FieldFFieldThe continuous content Field to fill the gap with (frequency authored in model units, e.g. a gyroid expression).
Surface AASurfaceThe first boundary surface.
Surface BBSurfaceThe second boundary surface (same UV domain as A).
ResolutionoptionalResInteger50Warp fidelity: grid nodes across the surface extent. The grid auto-extends to cover the gap at the same fidelity. Higher = finer warp, slower bake; not the final mesh.
Uniform LayersoptionalUBooleanTrueON (default): normalise the gap to its average for a FIXED number of layers from A to B everywhere, so the cells stretch where the gap is wide and squeeze where it is narrow. OFF: the content tiles in real model units across the gap, so the number of cells through the thickness varies where the gap is wider/narrower. Layer count = average gap / your content period either way.

Outputs

NameNickTypeDescription
ImplicitIImplicitThe output implicit.

Example definition

A Neovius lattice filling the gap between two surfaces
Two curved surfaces with the same UV layout bound a Neovius sheet lattice, like the core of a sandwich panel.
Try
  • Drag f to change the cell size: the period is 2π / f.
  • Drag t to thicken or thin the walls.
  • Toggle Uniform Layers to keep the same number of cells through the thickness where the gap changes.

WarningWire a valid Surface A.
WarningWire a valid Surface B.
WarningSurface A and B have different UV domains: the gap morph may be skewed. Reparametrize them to a shared domain for a clean result.
