Nickname InstanceMorphe › 2. Implicit › LatticeOutputs Implicit

Stamps a base Field at a list of transforms.

Inputs

NameNickTypeDefaultDescription
BaseBFieldThe base Field to stamp at each transform. An Implicit can be wired here too: it is read as a Field, and its own bounding box is ignored: Base Bounding Box sets each copy's cell.
TransformsXTransformlistOne transform per instance (position / orientation / scale).
Base Bounding Box (required)optionalBbBoxRequired. The reference cell each copy occupies: the base is clipped to it and it sets each copy's extent. Authoritative: a larger box adds a margin around the base, a smaller box keeps only that section. Supply it explicitly; it is not taken from the base's own (looser) bounds.
BlendoptionalKGenericOptional smoothing radius for a smooth union: a number for a uniform fillet, or a Field to vary it in space. Empty or 0 = hard union.

Outputs

NameNickTypeDescription
ImplicitIImplicitThe output implicit.

Example definition

Cubes instanced onto the faces of a sphere
Grasshopper's Mesh Sphere Ex gives a quad sphere; Face Normals and Plane Normal turn its faces into planes, and Orient's transforms place a 4 mm implicit cube on every one of them. The same mesh, converted with Implicit From Mesh, is then fused with the cubes by a filleted Union.
Try
  • Drag Union Radius to change the fillet where the cubes meet the sphere.
  • Change Count on Mesh Sphere Ex for more or fewer cubes.
  • Raise Blend to fuse neighbouring cubes.
  • Feed your own transforms: Orient onto the faces of any mesh, or a list from Rotate.
