Fill Boxes

Nickname FillBoxMorphe › 2. Implicit › LatticeOutputs Implicit

Morphs a base Field into a set of twisted boxes by per-cell inverse-trilinear mapping. Feed oriented Rhino boxes or twisted boxes.

Inputs

NameNickTypeDefaultDescription
BaseBFieldThe base Field to morph into each cell. An Implicit can be wired here too: it is read as a Field, and its own bounding box is ignored: Base Bounding Box sets the cell.
BoxesoptionalXGenericlistOne box per cell: an oriented Rhino Box (affine cell, no twist), or a Twisted Box
Base Bounding Box (required)optionalBbBoxRequired. The unit-cell reference box: the region of the base that fills each cell. Respected exactly: larger than the base geometry leaves a margin (members won't reach the cell faces), smaller crops it. Never auto-derived from the base: you set the cell.
BlendoptionalKGenericOptional smoothing radius for a smooth union: a number for a uniform fillet, or a Field to vary it in space. Empty or 0 = hard union.

Outputs

NameNickTypeDescription
ImplicitIImplicitThe output implicit.

Example definition

A BCCz strut lattice in twisted boxes, thickened along the diagonal
A BCCz unit cell built with Struts fills 72 twisted boxes stacked three deep over a curved surface. Offset then thickens the members, grading from o0 at one corner of the part to o1 at the opposite corner.
Try
  • Drag o0 and o1 to change how the member thickness grades across the part.
  • Change Strut Radius and Node Blend to reshape the unit cell itself.
  • Feed your own twisted boxes, for example from Surface Box or Twisted Box, into Boxes.
